One more push and it should be finished.......

After what seems like an eternity, we can now start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Over the past couple of weeks major progress has been made installing the final fix items in and around the kitchen.

The new doors now actually work as expected, it even opens from the outside!

The new patio finishes of the entrance area from outside.

Two single sinks have been installed, they will be "under mounted".  First time I have every used a "router" to ensure the sinks sat flush with the worktop when it's installed.

The granite worktops have been installed and polished up, they look stunning, highly recommended.

Appliances are now being installed, induction hob finished with a one piece glass curved extractor unit.

The floor tiles are now the last major component to be completed.  Unfortunately they were involved in a road traffic accident!  They did not survive.  New ones are now being delivered from Spain!

Kitchen Units - Installed

After two days of fitting most of the kitchen units have been installed.  We have picked white high gloss units with a handle less design.  A black granite worktop will be installed on top to finish the kitchen units.

A "bank" of appliances are soon to be installed

The kitchen units were purchased from Magnet Express.  They seem to be of a high quality and were delivered pre assembled. Magnet Express offered a good price on the kitchen but a word of caution their customer service could be improved!

Lights installed and 2nd fix electrics

We have installed a Lutron 3106 Grafik eye lighting system to enable full dimmable control over 6 different light "zones" in the new kitchen and dinning area.  The image above shows the main control box.

Island pendant lights

Phillips LED "master" range of LED dimmable bulbs have been installed.  They seem to be working well with the Lutron unit.

Bi-Fold Doors - Oh No!

The long awaited bi-fold doors were installed, they look really good just what we wanted, but........

Believe it or not the "doors" can't be opened from the outside.  To open from a closed \ locked position they can only be opened from the inside.  Hopefully the builder and door supplier can rectify this situation soon as we need need a door that functions as a door!

Progress in the new kithcen has otherwsie been very good, most of the plastering is completed, the new colomub raditior has been positioned to allow the pipe work to be installed.  The door issue is currently holding up completion of the plastering and the fomation of a patio \ steps outside.

We have a 4-2-2 style door, if anyone can find reference anywhere that states the door can't be opened from the outside, like a "door" then let me know!

1st fix electrics and boarding

All the first fix electric cables are now in place and work has started adding insulation and plasterboard.

Bi-fold door opening

In preparation for the 3m Bi-fold doors the window opening has been widened to accommodate the new door.

The full width of the external walls can now be clearly seen and the amount of stone removed has been considerable........
