New additions

As the main heating pipes have been exposed, identifying flow and return central heating circuits has been possible.  Heating "Zones" are being installed the first zone valve has been installed.  This one controls the upper level heating zone.

The old consumer unit was removed and two modern MK Sentry units installed;

Steel work up

The load bearing wall has been removed, the steel work is almost completed and work has started digging up the floor.

As expected some issues have cropped up;

The main consumer unit and incoming electric meter we on the load bearing wall
Six heating, gas, and water pipes located exactly where the new steel needs to be
Dust, dust and more dust.  Getting into the house through holes in floor boards etc.

Old plaster stripped back and picture shows the exposed sandstone walls.

If you look at the above picture you can see the old floor was laid directly on top of the soil.......Cold!

Pipes had to be cut to go round steel beam

Current kitchen

Work on our new kitchen started on the 11th February 2013.  This blog will record it's progress from start to finish.

OK so here is what the current kitchen looks like.  Been here around 20 years.  One of the main issues is how cold \ damp the floor is.  The existing concrete floor was laid directly onto the ground.  The new kitchen will see to old floor removed and a new insulated floor laid.

A load bearing wall also needs removed and new 3m bi-fold doors are being installed
